Mission Charities 2007

Mission Giving at St Andrew's

Each year at St Andrew's we give 10% of our income from the collection plate and from Christian stewardship (regular donations) to other Christian and non-Christian organisations that we believe need our support. As you will see from the list below, we always try to split that giving between international, national and local charities.

Mission Giving for 2007

The mission giving for 2007 will be distributed as follows. The percentage figure is the percentage of the total for the year:

International:

  • World Vision Project in Lori, Armenia (20%) - this is year two of a three year project commitment to develop income-generating projects in this part of Armenia, including rebuilding schools and providing clean water and good sanitation.
  • Water Aid (20%) - dedicated to helping people escape the stranglehold of poverty and disease caused by living without safe water and sanitation.

National:

  • The Prostate Cancer Charity (10%) - raising public awareness, providing practical support and information, and funding medical research into prostate cancer
  • RN Mission To Deep Sea Fishermen (10%) - supporting fishermen and their families whenever and wherever the need arises in body mind and spirit, in an industry where the risk of injury is very high.
  • Letton Hall Purchase Appeal (10%) - securing the freehold of Letton Hall Christian Centre in Norfolk, to “provide a facility which enable people to experience the presence and reality of God”.

Local:

  • Manor Farm Family Centre (10%) - part of Christian Family Care working with vulnerable families in the local area. Funds are targeted at the Special Needs Groups that meets every Tuesday for parents and children with special needs.
  • Keech Cottage Children’s Hospice (10%) - providing support for families who are caring for children and young people with a life-limiting condition. Based in Luton, and serving Bedfordshire and the surrounding area.
  • Sunnyside School (10%) - based in The Baulk, Sunnyside is a school for pupils with Severe Learning Difficulties, which currently has over 80 pupils between 5-18 years old. They are currently raising funds for a new minibus.

Please pray for the work of these organisations during 2007.
